Landed in Singapore

After a 3 1/2 hour flight on Cathay Pacific, we have landed in Singapore.  We were somewhat worried about Patrick getting through Immigration as he did not get an official exit stamp when he left Singapore in December 2008 despite his efforts to get one.  We were not sure if this would create a problem upon his return.    After Teri, Kacy and I breezed through Immigration, it was Pat's turn.  Fortunately, the immigration officer had no problem with Patrick's status and stamped his passport without any hesitation.  In fact, the immigration officer was very friendly and even had a candy jar at his station.

We had reserved a 7 seater taxi van to ensure that we had more than sufficient space for all of us and our luggage.  Needless to say, we had ample room.
We are now relaxing in the hotel.  I highly recommend the Signature Club Level Rooms as you have many amenities such as buffet breakfast, refreshments all day, cocktail hour, better rooms, broadband access, etc.  I had requested a tranquil Blue color theme room as noted in the photo instead of a brothel Red color theme room.  I am happy that they granted my request. :-)

Thus far we are pleased with our choice of hotel.  We shall see if our initial impressions remain the same after staying here for a few days.  Teri misses a few of the amenities at the Singapore Marriott that we stayed at on our previous visit.  However, the Millennium Orchard Hotel has some amenities that the Marriott did not have. Overall, I would say the Orchard Millennium is on a par with the Marriott at 2/3 the price.  More importantly, we have saved 120,000 Marriott points by staying at the Millennium Orchard Hotel instead of the Singapore Marriott.  We can use the points for hotel stays on other trips.

I shall update this blog once I have a chance to unwind.  First things first, the complimentary cocktail hour begins at 6 PM, a mere 75 minutes from now.  We intend to drink as much as we can.   To quote an anonymous wise person, we have to "get our money's worth".  :-)
