We were somewhat worried that the torrential downpours and thunderstorms Friday morning would prevent us from going to the Singapore Zoo. But the rain largely disappeared by noon so we took the 1 PM Singapore Attractions Express bus to the zoo. The zoo was intelligently designed and afforded visitors the opportunity to be quite close to the animals in relatively natural habitats.

Notice the black panther in the water. Both of these animals swam very well.
