OT: USA Soccer Advances !

Yet another OT but this time it is about USA soccer, not UCLA  :-)

Apparently, Singapore TV network could not agree on terms for the television rights to the World Cup.  Thus we were forced to find alternatives.  One alternative was to watch it on the Internet via streaming.  However, Patrick found a Malaysian TV station that was broadcasting the game live.  During the game, the commentary was from official FIFA network and was in English.  However, the half time commentary and analysis were entirely in Malaysian.  :-(  But at least we were able to see the game live.  We were thinking of going to a bar to see the game but were concerned that most of the crowd would want to watch England - Slovenia instead.  There seems to be quite a few Britons here in Singapore and the game was at the same time so I am sure that the England game would have been the primary attraction.

But as noted, we watched in from the comfort of our hotel room on the Malaysian TV channel  We were also streaming the England - Slovenia game on my MacBook Pro.  Needless to say, we were very nervous as the USA game was nearing its end with the score at 0-0 while England was winning 1-0.  Thus the USA was in danger of being eliminated.  Hooray, Landon Donovan scores in the 91st minute and the men's team moves on to the round of 16.

USA!  USA!   USA!   USA!   USA!   :-)
